I had a good time at basic. I just graduated out of BCT last month, and now Im still in my AIT at FT Lee VA. I went to basic at Ft Jackson. As far as the nickname "Relaxin' Jackson" it depends on what batallion youre in haha. Mine, and one down the street had it pretty hard, an actual BCT experience, but another batallion across the way got big pizza parties for phase changes, phones on the weekend, hardly ever got smoked, etc. In my opinion its BCT overall is to easy these days. If I hadnt been blessed with great drill sergeants I wouldnt consider myself ready for combat based off of the BCT program..
All of the obstacle courses were fun, IE Team Development Course, Confidence Course, etc. Repelling the wall was my favorite I think, and the gas chamber the least favorite. Although I was congested before and not after going in haha. Another great aspect of BCT is I became great friends with alot of my battles in my platoon and continue to talk to them often a month after graduation and dont see that changing anytime soon. My biggest dissappointment is my marksmanship. I shot well the whole time, and should have been expert, but on qualification day I rushed myself a bit and hit 33 to get sharpshooter. Still not bad, but should have been better..
Also alot of PT. I ate a ton more in BCT then I ever did at home but still lost 25 lbs.. Hooah
