007, The discussion was not meant to stir up drama. The intial question from a few hundred of our members was, Are button Glitches and Super Bouncing allowed and at what times can they be used if so? For many months people have stated that, button glitches are allowed regardless when you use them. Then, super bouncing is not allowed in matching making when playing objective games. However, some people who follow the honorcode closely interpret to mean what it says - Honor Code violations consist of trash talking, t-bagging, discrimination, racism, sexism, harassment, illegal drugs, cheating, poaching, squad deranking, or any other aggressive behavior toward fellow online gamers. Cheating is defined as any manipulation of online play; this includes, but not limited to modding, bridging, stand-bying, forcing host, glitching / super jumping in match making to gain an unfair advantage, playing online custom/ranked games with Modders, and circle boosting. With the above statement in the honorcode, the debate began that any glitches / jumping that gave someone an unfair advantage would not be allowed. My personal opinion of what that statement means is as I have stated, any glitches / super bouncing in match making can give someone an unfair advantage so I don't do it. In trying to answer again, the questions from the hundreds of members in our community, I have said exactly that as have others. If you pick up a sniper and jump up on top of some building that no one can defend against your shooting them, is that not an unfair advantage? When looking this type of thing up on Bungie, they state that 1. they did not put those glitches or juper bouncing in the game 2. they classify them all as cheating in their matchmaking system and you can be reported or actually should be reported for doing them When you read what they have to say on glitches and / super bouncing and add in what our honorcode says, most people determine it to mean what the words say - Doing them to gain an UNFAIR advantage which can be reported as CHEATING is not allowed in XGC. We all know that those that use these as part of their game tend to do so because they want to exploit the "bugs" (what bungie calls them) in the game to their advantage. As someone above stated, and I have heard many Division leaders and Council members say, XG is about playing the game the way it was meant to be. BUGS in the game per the maker of the game are not to be used in their match making system so it was not meant to be played that way and doing so can in fact get you reported as cheating for using them. If you are saying that they are allowed in objective games, then great that is the answer people needed to hear and I am sure they all will be happy that use the bugs. For me, I am done with this thing as it has taken up every moment of me being online the last two weeks dealing with everyones whining or complaining. I will say this, If people left or want to leave because they can't super bounce or use a button glitch then maybe we did not want them in XG anyways. I mean, really this is so minor an issue but people have made it out to be a life threatening event. It is nuts to think people can get so emotional over a game yet can't deal with real life issues at all. As for the other stuff Corona and I were talking about, I agree, Modding in custom games and action replay probably could be allowed. Especially if GLITCHES are allowed why not? I mean, who doesn't want to flying around the maps in a warthog or shoot grenades from a plasma pistol? The custom games that can be played surely bring back the FUN that so many are missing in this game. Whether or not they were meant to be in the game or not, they are part of it as are the Glitches and Super Bounces. If you allow them to be used at anytime then I say again, why not the other stuff? Now, before you hit me with the NO Drama stuff, realize it is not my agenda to bring this up to cause drama. Hell, it is not me that brings it up at all. It is the hundreds of members of this community that play HALO 2 that bug me daily about it for the last 10 months. They are asking to be able to do these things to bring back the FUN to a game they choose and love to play. What do the Division Leaders and Council say on those questions from it's members? Also, I have had the question of whether or not this issue pertains to other games as well. I have stated yes the honorcode covers all games period as it is the community honorcode not HALO2 honorcode. ADDED THIS taken from another thread - Yep, it's in a Podtacular podcast with KP from Bungie, which can be found here: http://cache.libsyn.com/podtacular/podtacular94.mp3 In this interview KP specifically states (in regards to super bouncing), "It's not up for debate. It is cheating." He then goes on to say that it should be reported, and how.
