We have to remember to give people the benefit of the doubt. It's easy to lose sight of that over time. We don't always have to be suspicious or skeptical right away. We need to be patient and get all the details before we form an opinion. Sometimes things are also just as they seem and that will prove out once all information is gathered. Always get both sides of a story, somewhere in the middle you will find the truth.Importance of Section Updates:Typically, your section updates should be done once a month. This should include a breakdown of the status of each clan, what they are working on, and a review of the goals of the leadership. If there are any up coming major events, squad or clan splits, this should also be noted.You should also be utilizing the section updates to document any issues that comes up in the clans since the last update. This also includes any times that you have to have conversations with leadership in the clan about performing their rank responsibilities. This is to provide a "paper trail" of the conversation, just in case the issue is not fixed and the situation gets worse and eventually leads to a demotion. For example, if you wind up demoting a general because they have not been holding clan meeting for two months. Not here should be an edit of your section update that highlights the conversations that you held with the general discussing the issue and leading to the decision for demotion.***Posting this type of info your section update does not take the place of posting in the Leader log. As always, if the situation requires a Leader log posting, post in that forum.If you have questions on what type of information you should be adding in your section update, please hit up a division leader.Know The BasicsMake sure you and your leaders know where to find all of the basic leadership tools on the website, such as the clan structure, rank structure, and promotion requirements. You should be able to help all members on where to find these as well. If you haven't looked through the XG Bible, that is also a great resource for both you and your Generals to be able to view answers from XC/XI on questions that have been posted over the years on a wide variety of topics. If you aren't sure on an answer, that is a great place to look if nobody is available to pull into a party at that time, if you can't find an answer anywhere you can start a thread yourself to get a response.Stay In Your LaneAs a Section Leaders, it is your responsibility to run a successful Section. In order to do so, you must focus on you and your Section first, not what is going on in other Sections/Divisions. If an issue arises between one of your members and a member in another clan/section/division, bring it to your Leadership's attention immediately so it can be handled. There is no meeting the first Sunday in September due to Labor Day.Recruiting:When recruiting members, remember quality over quantity. We want ideal members, not just numbers. Being selective on who's brought into the clan/community will undoubtedly benefit both. Make sure you're recruiting like minded individuals and gamers that share the same idea and goals as you do.Remember when recruiting, keep in mind that some of these people you recruit could be returning members as well. It is your responsibility to research any gamertags that they have had. If members were removed for inactivity a GwG is not needed. For those that were removed for Honor Code Violations etc or if you cannot find a removal request for said member because of them being gone for so long or if it was lost somewhere, Send them through the Grass Wasn't Greener process. Never assume someone was removed due to Inactivity just because they said that they were.Training Your ReplacementAll leadership ranks are responsible for making sure that they train their own replacement. This is also known as building your leadership pipeline. If a Captain has to step down for personal reasons, their LT should be ready to take their place without waiting several weeks for training to take place. If you aren't preparing for these situations proactively and holding your leadership accountable for their rank responsibilities, your clan will not be able to move forward and be successful. If you don't know what to do in order to overcome an issue in your clan, ask your XS or use the open door policy to find out, don't just wait until the issue happens, focus on preventing the issue from ever occurring.Training ToolsWhen training members at any rank, remember to teach them the proper way. Explain things in detail and always try to set them up for success! Teach them the tools they'll need to be better leaders and support them. Communication is key! What do you do on a daily basis to move your clans and leaders forward? How are they moving forward in their progression as leaders and helping those below them succeed and get to their next step? If they aren't moving forward and pushing themselves and others forward, they are stagnant. Make sure this isn't happening with any of your clans, and if it is, figure out how to get them out of their rut. If they aren't upholding their responsibilities, you need to train them or find a new leader.Leadership ClassesThese classes are designed to help your leadership obtain the knowledge to move forward as a successful leader. The only classes that are MANDATORY are the General's Classes and Section Leader's class. The Captain class is not mandatory but highly recommended. In the event a captain hasn't taken the class, work with him/her and try to get them in one as it will help when they move up in leadership. There is NO penalty for a captain not taking the class so we do not demote Captains just because they haven’t taken the Captain class.Clan SizesGenerals, when your clan is moving towards 25-30 members, your XS and yourself should be developing a plan for a clan split and getting your leadership ready. The optimized clan should have 20-30 members with full leadership and replacements ready to go. When looking at number of squads in your clan, you do not need to have a specific number of squads in order to do a clan split - clan splits are done when leadership is ready. We have the Clan Structure in place for a reason.
