I find most scary movies to be gross, rather than scary. It's like the movie industry can't stop associating gore with fright, and that's not my preferred style--I like a more psychological scare.

So I can't say any scary movies, but the scariest game I've ever played is Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Fatal Frame is also terrifying.

:D

i think daystar hit the nail on the head... the movies are always scarier when there is a chance that it could actually happen, like Straw Dogs. Even worse are the ones based on true stories.... Vacancy, but the scariest imo is The Strangers. They made the movie based on what they know about it, but there is still not alot even known about the more brutal aspects of it. Freaky movie!!!!

Depends on what type of scary you like. The movie "Funny Games" gets to you because of the realism. What happens in that film isn't like fantasy and does happen to people, makes you want to hide your kids and hide yo wife

Should it be that there is a scary film out there that makes me jump or twitch then it's a scary film. But if not for me it's nothing more than a comedy. Though does a scary film neccesarily have to come under the classification of "Horror" to be scary ?

I have watched a few films this week that have been made with funding from the British Arts Council that are like Post Apocalyptic films after some disaster... the one I watched was called Shank . It was set in the not too distant future after a major economic crash and I perish the thought of living in a place like this and more to the point this film scares me more than some horror films of recent years have.
