hello all! i was just wondering if anyone could tell me or even show me how to script/code a forum based website. we are using this for our high school web site and i am in need of HELP!!! so if anyone that knows how to build one or even this one (that would be the best help) please help me out!

well i am looking for anyone that has how to set up the script.. cuz i cant figure out how to set my CGI-BIN database... if you know any good sites or anyone that can help me out it would be great!

or you could try this free site that my first website for the school newspaper used ...www.ning.com-very user friendly, and you can create your own pages and link them. What I did when making it was made individual staff member pages, contact page for the newspaper and the actualy news pages on the free web design program called NVU. Which you can also download, it is heavily HTML based but also allows for what you see is what you get creation.

thanks guys! also... is there a way for me to create a VBull. ? because i really like the way our web site is set up and created... do you have to download VBull.. or what... i have no clue on what to do for building a forum database.. but when it comes to web design i know it very well!

It all depends on if you're trying to code a forum from scratch. If so, then you have several options like PHP or ASP.Net. I honestly am more of an ASP person, as Visual Studio is an extremely easy to use development IDE. You can download free version of Visual Studio at
http://www.microsoft.com/express/ . As far as installing a preexisting forum base, such as vBulletin, Invision, etc, you'll need a web host (preferably a non free one). If you're doing this for highschool, you might see if they will let you run Inetpub on the computers, and just use the pcs at the school to make a virtual server.
