Well, well, well. Another mass exodus from XG is happening. Huh, imagine that.
I joined XG back in September of 2016, and I was given pipe dreams of an all-inclusive community that encourages every member to speak their mind and let their voice be heard, all the way from recruits to the top of the food chain. We were all told that our opinions mattered, and that we should never be afraid of speaking up if we had any concerns that we felt should be addressed.
That, unfortunately, seemed to be pretty far from the truth.
When the XG-wide Discord server was started, we were told that we were not allowed to have our own servers for our clans or sections anymore. We were also told that failing to delete these servers would result in being removed from the community for not using official XG communication. I was the General of SYN Serenity at the time, and myself and a few other Generals expressed our concern and displeasure with not being able to have our own clan servers (spoiler alert: had I stuck around, I was gonna keep mine anyway). We were told almost verbatim by an XI that if we didn’t like it, we could leave, and that the community was fine without us before and would be fine after. That XI then refused to listen to anything else we had to say, and just brushed us off.
Doesn’t seem like our voices really matter as much as they say they do, now does it?
This, along with other things I had heard (from multiple sources that I know wouldn’t lie to me) was the straw that broke the camel’s back (and any other last straw cliches you can think of). From that point on, even though I remained as General of Serenity for a few more months, I was completely disillusioned with this community. Getting online began to feel like an obligation. Like a job. A job that I hated, complete with horrible bosses that are only in it for the power and to fuel their own egos through some superiority complex that they don’t have the testicular fortitude to act out in their real lives. I began to dread even turning my Xbox on, and on top of being a full-time college student, it became stressful. It was then that I knew that I had to go. The moment I told my XS that I couldn’t do it anymore, I felt a HUGE wave of relief. I was free.
Now, I see another mass exodus happening, much like when SYG formed up. I’m seeing people that I thought would be XG lifers leaving and either going solo or to another community. That alone tells me how bad things have REALLY gotten here. And I’m glad those people are leaving and finding happiness elsewhere. And funnily enough, they didn’t even have to explain to me why they chose to leave. I know that the higher-ups will put more value in a member that will step on anyone that gets in their way and get on their knees to kiss anything that even remotely resembles a leader’s *** than they will in a member that works hard and values their friendships (and even their real lives) more than an XS/XD/XC/XI tag. The very fact that someone who is willing to put their lips on as many buttocks as possible can go further than someone who actually spends their every free moment trying to make their clan/section/division better should be enough to tell you that this is not a community that gives any kind of a **** about you, your opinions, or your feelings.
Anyway, I’ve rambled long enough. To any newer members that might read this before it’s inevitably taken down, heed my words above. This community will suck your soul out, chew it up, and spit it into the garbage. Period. The higher-ups do not care about you. They only care about what little power they have in their lives, and what they can do with that microscopic sliver of control. Roll solo. Go to another community that actually values your input, and doesn’t just SAY that your opinion matters. Anywhere is better than here.
See you on the other side of the banlist!
